Meet Anele Geqiwe from Manbox

This Monday we put the spotlight to the “NINJA” behind Manbox. Anele Geqiwe is a Community Manager for Manbox. We’re catching up with him after 3 months he started on this role.

Is there such thing as being “in right place at the right time”? 

That’s how I got this gig at Manbox. That particular day I was only prepared for a catch up session not a job interview.

How do you stay disciplined?

We live in a fast paced society. One needs to achieve it at certain age, receive it today, post before you lose it. Too much pressure hey. I always remind my little “ego” about my objectives. When I see the next person with less than I have – I appreciate my life even more. When I see the next person with more than I have – I get excited with possibilities of ticking off my own “list’.

What do you enjoy about managing Manbox?

Writing is something personal for me so to do it as part of my job is quite fun. It feels like I’m back at school again. I learn something new almost everyday.

Grand, grand, what’s Manbox?

Manbox exists to “build better men”. We engage, share and inspire men to invest in themselves into becoming better versions of themselves.

What are your plans for Manbox?

To build a value for our community of men through informative and engaging content. We have so much offerings in the pipeline. I’m really excited about what’s coming up in the next few weeks – keep an eye.

What’s your winning formula?

How I perceive life is what keeps me content in my journey. These days everybody wants to teach and I prefer to be a student and learn from everyone and every situation.

Take us through your BOX?

I’m always trying new products. It was bit hard to only choose a few. The products below are my monthly essentials, really. Would it not be amazing to purchase your own “monthly essential” box just by clicking a button every month?

What’s your routine to stay fresh?

I really try to eat healthy. instead of going to the gym I prefer those urgent ‘runs’ I do from work to the train station.

If we had to put you in BOX – what would you remain as besides a Community Manager for Manbox?

What box? Try me…I doubt if I would fit in any box

Tell us 5 things that only few people know about you…

1. I have a twin brother BUT we’re not identical. Plus I have 6 siblings.
2. I’m obsessed with the Theatre of the Absurd genre
3. I owned a diary till my first year in varsity
4. Never played sport in school. I was more into Dramatic Arts
5. In 2009 I got an Achievement Scholarship to study Film & Media at UCT
