Men are more reluctant to go to the doctor – and it’s putting them at risk. Asking for help isn’t a dude’s favourite thing to do. If a man is persuaded by a friend or partner to consult a doctor – is less likely to be honest once they get there. Most men perceive vulnerability as weakness. Blame it on the cultural script about masculinity that tells men they need to be tough and strong.
Testicular Cancer
Testicular cancer is a relatively rare type of cancer that occurs in the testicles, or testes. The testicles produce testosterone and store sperm. A common early symptom is a painless lump or swelling in a testicle. Changes occur in the testicles for many reasons. A lump does not always mean cancer, but anyone who notices a change should see a doctor.
Other symptoms:
- a heavy feeling in the scrotum
- a difference in size between the testicles
- a sharp pain in the testicle or scrotum
- a difference in size between the testicles
