March: Celebrating Human Rights in South Africa

As we step into the month of March, we are reminded of the importance of human rights and the significant strides that South Africa has made in promoting equality and justice. March holds a special place in our hearts as it marks the observance of Human Rights Day on March 21st, a day dedicated to remembering the sacrifices made by many during the struggle for freedom and equality.

As we honor this important day, let us reflect on the progress we have made in advancing human rights, while recognizing the work that still lies ahead. Human Rights Day encourages us to continue standing up for justice, ensuring that every South African enjoys the freedoms and protections guaranteed under our Constitution.

Out of all other special holidays, Human Rights day is my favorite, Rights makes everyone feel special and valued, none greater than the other, neither nan nor woman, neither citizen nor foreigner, neither black nor white not even age. All are equal. Men in this platform this month reminds us to be humble and enjoy life.

Firstly apologies for the long read…
I love the concept of celebrating Human Rights day, however, how many of us can truly say that ALL our rights have been observed.
Right to Human Dignity – how many times have we looked down on those less fortunate and we do not extend a hand to help those less fortunate up
Right to Life – Today we see life as a common commodity, Women, Men and children killed for fun and we do not stand up
Freedom and Security of a Person – House breaking is on the rise and continues. Not even parliament is safe anymore
Right to Equality – not only black and white, how many of us see women as lesser than us.
Freedom of Expression -women attacked for wearing minis, we laugh at men wearing feminine clothing
Right to Privacy – How many celebs relationships and private lives do we follow…to the point that they making money from streaming services housewives of this, my life as that etc..
Freedom of Religion, Belief Opinion – Jews, Muslims, Christians, when we die we all return to mother earth yet when we live we kill because of our beliefs
Right to Education – Fees must Fall ….should I say more
Right to Health Care, Food, Water, and Social Security – Ministers of government are being paid to manage this role yet social welfare is still so dire
Right to Vote and Participate in Government – Politics will remain politics yet, how many of these people actually have our good intentions at heart and not out to line their own pockets.
Human Rights should not be tabled in government regulation but should be our daily duty as humans. I say treat those around you like you would like them to treat you and we will live in harmony, share with each other no matter what, listen and most of all care for each other . Happy Human Rights Day my fellow humans
