Ayabulela Tshotyana was born and bred in the Eastern Cape. He is a PR graduate and a professional model and actor based in Cape Town. Aya is currently working as Jnr Public Relations officer at a company called Code. He has collaborated with so many brands as a social influencer.

How do you introduce yourself?

Although I’m a model I never introduce myself like “Hi, I’m Aya, I’m a model” I’m Aya that’s it unless more info is required.

What inspired you to become a model?

Well my mom to be honest, she saw a model in me when I was still in primary school, and my love for fashion just added more fuel to the fire.

 Do you know what makes you stand out from the rest?

Authenticity. In my industry it’s quite easy to emulate others instead of being yourself. Brands are not looking for polished human beings but individuals that people can relate to.

To mention a few: Mr Price, Tread & Miller, Edgars, Sportscene, Adidas, Superbalist, Puma, Code, Sanlam Cape Town Marathon campaign, Iwisa, Pep, Richelieu, Mirinda, Gatorade, Supreme, Manbox, Nivea, Imprint, Afro Dandy etc.

 What wakes up every morning besides your alarm?

Hunger for success and limited time, I’m not getting any younger.

What’s your winning formula?

 I’m always curious and trying to discover unique ways to do things. Comfort zone is really dangerous in my career path. I treat each gig differently – as another opportunity to improve my game.

 What’s next for you?

 Taking my career to the next level. I’m currently horning and nurturing my talents.

 What’s your routine to stay looking fresh?

 I pay attention to what I eat and I’m super active. The body of mine is big part of my livelihood

 What’s your number ONE grooming product?
