Mzansi We’ve Lost The Real One “ProKid”

In the early hours of Thursday (9.08.18) morning it was confirmed that “number one Soweto boy” is dead after he had a seizure on Wednesday night. South African Hip Hop pioneer, Linda Mkhize, better known as ProKid.

Pro’s family released a statement which stated that the Hip Hop veteran suffered a severe seizure, but after multiple attempts from paramedics he could not be revived, and was pronounced dead at 8.38pm.

Out of all the warm tributes from fans and Mzansi celebrities. This tweet below from Lerato Kganyago – made us remember who exactly ProKid was.

ProKid’s first mandate as an artist was to make it known he was representing Soweto. This was back in 2005. He invented a fresh style of rapping with ghetto metaphors and punchlines.

He later etched it in the minds of people that he was the “number one Soweto boy” by doing a DJ Khaled style shoutout of this phrase in almost all his songs. I bet most people have toured Soweto streets and eat Soweto music through ProKid’s music. Pro didn’t only inspire kids from Soweto but all the Mzansi kids from different townships.

If I had to pack a Manbox for ProKid, I would make sure I add Tabac Man After Shave Lotion. This legend always had a clean quasi swag with nicely trimmed beard. It’d really the sms things that matters. Click here to become a Manbox member and up your game.
