Mzansi’s hip-hop has matured over the years and continues to influence the culture. AKA and Cassper Nyovest are equally (some would disagree) the leading ‘goats’ of the genre.
There are a number of things that a rapper needs to accomplish to get a GOAT status. It’s not merely about spitting bars or releasing hit singles ― the endorsements and cultural influence count as well.
The ‘Fela In Versace’ hitmaker and ‘Ksazobalit’ hitmaker have been back and forth about getting into the ring for a few years now. Apparently, no contract has been signed yet. However, the Twitter streets are already going crazy about this much-anticipated boxing match. Could this be the way to resolve hip-hop beefs in Mzansi?
Let’s talk about the history of hip-hop beef a little. In late 1996 and early 1997, the most impactful hip-hop feud of all-time ended in a double dose of tragedy: Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G were both gunned down.
These days hip-hop is not inherently violent, and rappers’ beef emerges from a variety of causes such as jealousy, romantic entanglements, and betrayal. Some beefs are petty, and some are deeply personal.
The Hip-hop genre is all about ego, power, and the good life. It’s about making all your ‘SBWLs’ come true and dare your peers to reach your level.
Let’s see who is better at freestyling between AKA and Cassper while the boxing match date isn’t set yet.

Sways Universe: Cassper Nyovest freestyle
Cassper Nyovest fills up stadiums around and AKA creates epic orchestra shows.
All we’d all love to see is these rappers jumping on the same track together. Mzansi has produced great boxers like the late Baby Jake Matlala ― we want to see our rappers behind the mic.
So the ultimate question is… who’s side of the ring would you be sitting in if these two ever get in the ring?
