[October Newsletter] Better Days Are Coming 🙌🏾

Happy New Month gents!

With the last few months of the year coming, we know that comes with a bit of year-end fatigue. Suddenly, the simple everyday tasks are now seeming like mammoth tasks because we are genuinely feeling tired.

How are you doing currently in the mornings?

Okay let’s be real, mornings can be a b**ch. That alarm goes off on Monday and the last thing you want to do is get up. You hit snooze again and again until you’ve got the bare minimum amount of time to get ready and get work. You practically fall out of the door and head to work before you’ve even had the chance to have breakfast.

Sound familiar?😂

A lot of us are currently spending our mornings like this. The “New Year, New Me 5 am Club resolution” has burnt out. Honestly, my mornings now consist of me being barely awake, rushing through my routine, and tripping over my own trousers.

The point is, feeling tired at this time of the year is completely normal but there are ways to make your days and most importantly; mornings better so that you can start your days with a BANG!

Do you know that a healthy set of habits each morning is often the key to a successful day?

We’ve put together 5 things that you can do each morning to set an intention for a positive and better day.

  1. WAKE UP EARLY

I can almost hear the sigh you just made because “Oh no, not another person saying I should wake up early”.

No doubt you’ve heard it before, but I’m here to tell you again that it’s important to wake up early in order to have a successful morning. But depending on your schedule, early can be as late as you want.  You see, the important thing about waking up early is all that extra time you get before you start your day. For example, if your work day starts at 12pm, firstly, lucky you! Secondly, that could mean that getting up at 10am is ‘early’ for you. You’ve got a few hours before you need to be anywhere which means that there is plenty of time to get productive and get some things done.

2. USE A PROPER ALARM CLOCK

Sounds pointless right? Because you probably use your phone to wake up. But have you thought about what you do after you shut off that alarm? Let me take a wild guess, you check your social media, emails, and anything else you like to scroll through first thing in the morning. This is not only one of the worst habits to pick up if you’re looking to start your day with a clear head but it also gives you more of a chance to procrastinate starting your day.

We promise you’ll find your head is much clearer if you wait 30 minutes before checking your phone in the morning and will also feel more awake and present. This already will make your day better.

3. DRINK A GLASS OF WATER

I know we all prefer coffee of tea in the morning but a large glass of water is the first thing you need to drink every morning.

There are a ton of health benefits to drinking enough water. All the way from the obvious—you’ll die if you don’t. To things like better skin and an improved immune system.

Besides all of this, its good to drink water in the morning simply because it helps to wake you up and feel refreshed. You might wake up feeling a bit groggy. Maybe your eyes feel heavy or your head feels bunged up. A glass of water solves the problem almost instantly.

4. DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE

We all know that no one likes getting up. Well, not many of us at least.

One of the reasons for that is we’re getting up to do something we’d rather not do. We’d prefer to stay in bed instead of going to work for example. You have to force it and use your willpower just to get out of bed. But the key to consistent habits is enjoying them. It’s far easier to maintain a habit over a long period if you enjoy it. So this tip is a psychological one.

If you enjoy having tea or coffee before your day starts, you can make it a priority to treat yourself to having a cup in a comfortable state while chilling outside on the balcony or on the couch. If you play an instrument, you can even have a jam session before you start your day. That gives you something to look forward to.

5. MAKE YOUR BED

This is a very simple but powerful piece of advice:

Make your bed every morning.

“If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.” Naval Admiral William McRaven

Success starts with small things. Small actions that build habits and character

Making your bed means you start the day off right. Doing it constantly cultivates discipline. That discipline and the simple action of making your bed each morning will seep into the rest of your life.

You’ll find yourself being more disciplined in other parts of your day. More able to stick to routines and maintain good habits.

Making your bed each morning is the first brick laid in the solid foundation of success.

Lastly, it’s good for you. If you come home from a stressful day at work, the least you can have is a safe and clean space for you to unwind.

I drink glass of water first thing in the morning after brushing my teeth it really helps, then I shower before I make my bed. The only thing that delays the process is checking my phone/social media in the morning when I wake up. It takes soo much time and I need to change that habit.

I have always told my kids that by just making your bed in the morning, is already an accomplishment, and that thinking should motivate them to do more throughout the day. Motivation can start from even the menial of tasks. Stay motivated !!!
