It’s OK Not To Be OK

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay. Mental health problems can affect anyone, any day of the year. If you or someone you know are having thoughts and feelings that are making day-to-day life difficult, it’s always okay to ask for help. Look after your mind let your friends and family know that you’re here to help.

Everyday, we must normalise discussions about mental health and be able to talk about our mental health issues. Bro, there’s always someone willing to listen and give advice. There’s no shame in seeking help or just being honest about how you truly feel.

Ask “how are you?” twice because the common answer the first time is most likely be ‘I’m fine”. The second time they will likely tell you how they really feel. Even your happiest and strongest friend could be putting a facade — ask him too.

As men, we’re not immune to mental illnesses  — asking for help doesn’t make you less of a man. The suicide rate is high amongst us men compared to women.

Bro, don’t suffer in silence — cry for help if you are not coping.
