Using Public Transport? Here Are Effective Ways To Kill Time

Let’s be honest, public transport can be a serious fun nightmare! The waiting and not knowing when is the next pick up will be — is super frustrating. However so much can be done while riding on an hour trip to and from work. Of course, there are more irritating times when you just want to get to your destination asap. If you’re a train commuter in Mzansi I bet you have mastered the art of waiting and complaining. Below we have a list of productive things to do while waiting or riding on public transport.

Reading

If you’re so busy and can’t really find a proper time to read at home, why don’t you do it on the train or bus?  This is the quickest way to complete a book and you don’t panic when there are delays — for you, that means more chapters to read. Uhm, as long as you keep track of where you are and not miss your destination.

Podcast

It depends on what kind of content you prefer. Listening to a spirit-lifting conversation in the morning is a great kick to an awesome start of each day. There are so many podcasts you can choose from — nothing really beats audio especially when you’re exhausted.

Meditation

Most of the time we live in our heads and not paying attention to our surrounding. Meditation could be just about taking a step back and watch everything without judgement. Some people give themselves a ‘positive word’ of the day to keep them on the present moment —  call it the gratitude exercise.

Music

Of course, music is king. Nothing really brings you towards yourself than a dope rap song or a pumping beat. The trick is to understand your emotions and create playlists to cater for each moment. Trust music to take you to places your public transport wouldn’t.
