Load shedding hacks to help save your appliances 💡
With our country moving to stage 6 load shedding for what seems like the foreseeable future. Many South African’s find themselves in quite a predicament working around the rolling blackouts.
Not only that but many have mentioned their struggle with their electric appliances due to power surges caused by the ongoing outages.
And we’ll top it by saying most insurance companies are refusing to cover the damages caused by load shedding. So how do we save our appliances and our pockets from the power surges.
We’ve got just the tips for you:
Uninterrupted power supply
This is a devise with a battery backup system that can supply power to your device for a matter of minutes or hours. Even if your UPS only runs for a few minutes, it still buys you enough time to power down your devices safely and correctly.
Unplug your devices
If you can, try keep your computer cables and telephone cables linked to modems and other sensitive equipment unplugged during load shedding.
Back-up batteries or solar power
Security systems are often compromised during load shedding by installing back up battery systems for electric gates and solar security lights you can help ensure your home stays protected during load shedding.

The need/want for electricity in South Africa is a necessity for every household. We the habitants of S.A need to come together and curb the usage of electricity wisely and sparingly. Solar systems and power banks seem to be a temporary solution to loadshedding. Maybe the Government needs to subsidize the purchasing of solar systems #ManBoxHQ #LoadShedding
Great advice, considering we now have a “Electricity Minister” which means that load-shedding is going to be here for a while, and we need all the help we can get.
Loadshedding is such pain to all of us. So inconvenient and messes up everything from food to appliances and I just wish everything could get sorted in this country. Come on man let’s stand up for what is right. . Thank you for the tipes manbox

Beat article to read. Reminds me of the reason why I need to get a backup power supply during these times of load shedding. Especially having to work and study from home, things become a bit difficult to deal with.
With load shedding now becoming permanent, I am considering getting solar and batteries. This has become the new and inevitable reality.
Electricity is now very expensive and such tips help a lot. I think l read somewhere where it says buying electricity on the first of each month is better because electricity is cheaper at that time.
This article is very relevant especially with these loadshedding schedules. Planning ahead helps a lot too.
