“Be-capable, Be-strong, Don’t-show-weakness”

The fact is, we’re all flawed and we all carry pain. Pity we spend most of our time hiding it, but it’s there, it’s in you. So you need to open those boxes. One would think in 2019 it would be easy for men not to repress their feelings but that’s not the case. The sad truth is, we all prefer to be perceived as champions of life.

Do you remember Chuck Norris? The fearless dude would jump out of a moving train or handle an armed gang just by himself. But he’s the kind of hero that no one aspires to be. Chuck is too perfect that none of the villains would hit him — how boring! As much as we dig strong protagonists but we enjoy seeing them sweating or on a verge of throwing a towel. It’s is quite relieving to hear or see one of your heroes admitting to fear and confusion.

“Be capable, be strong and don’t show weakness” advice is misleading. Those moments of vulnerability and weakness open us to new experiences. Of course, none of want to be seen as a failure but what’s the point of being here and miss the “human experience”? As men we need to investigate the inability to connect with others, and the self-protection mechanisms that we build up that keep us from really being open.

Bro, how about you “be expressive, vulnerable, and sympathetic”? There’s nothing more “human” than being human and soak yourself in the present moment.
