No this is not a drill and no, it’s certainly not a prank. We are finally free from wearing masks!
Recently, our health minister Joe Phaahla quietly gazetted a notice that immediately removed any legal obligation to wear a face mask in South Africa.
This came in as a huge surprise for most South Africans because face masks have been a feature of South African life for more than TWO years. Then suddenly, they were gone.
We are certainly excited to not worry about wearing a mask at the gym or just to enter a mall or a restaurant (where we would actually have to remove the mask again to eat).
One thing is for sure, we will definitely miss wearing a mask as a cover-up when we don’t feel like being too social in public spaces😅
How are you feeling about this bro? What are your thoughts?
WANT TO GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR FACE MASK STASH?
Innovative suggestions for how to deal with masks you no longer need include:
- Clothing Patches
- Golfball and Dog-Eye Cleaning Wipes
- Hamster Hammocks, and Hammocks for Baby Bunnies.
We know that in reality, virtually all masks are most likely to end up in the dustbin and from there go to landfill sites, becoming part of the long-running problem of dealing with general waste.
There is, at least, ONE thing you can do to mitigate the potential harm that it may have on the environment: cut the rubber bands on both sides of a disposable mask before disposing of it.
That’s it from us, we are excited to see your full face bro!
So what are your thoughts gents? Let us know in the comments below if you are happy to be saying goodbye to face masks or not. We would like to see your thoughts😁

I personally will continue to wear my mask in crowded places. I have seen devastation the past two years and have placed a greater value on my health.
You wouldn’t believe it when I mention this, I still wear my mask around people, still got my sanitizer with me everywhere I go. Funny as ths can be, I think in terms of hygiene sake, masks and sanitizers have to be part of our lives still. (But definitely not to be forced to wear it lol)
The pandemic is not over yet, people is still having difficulties with covid they dont report it anymore. So for me I’ll still wear my mask.
That’s one of the most exciting news, yes we do understand that the virus is still here but being free from musk now that’s juts awesome.
Keep Covid regulations
Stay safe

It has bee long overdue with all this mask and not being able to breathe well , but we still need to be cautious , covid is not over yet
It’s good news yes but then covid is still with worse its winter people get affected by covid easily and mostly. So it’s now a personal decision to protect yourself especially when in public. Thank you manbox
I am one of those individuals who has seen the benefit of using a mask over the lockdown period. I hardly caught flu since 2020 whereas before I would pick up all kinds of infections by merely being near someone with flu. I am appalled at how people are now carelessly coughing and sneezing without even covering their mouths. Much as I would love to drop the mask, let me rather be the sore thumb until summer is well established.
Goodbye masks means more of grooming as I need to look my neat self every now and then. I can’t wait to try the new big flex two to keep my face beard free as my beard grows very fine and not as I love it to. So shaving it all off is a win for me
LOL! Yes the masks hid a lot of bushes on our faces! But thanks to Bic Flex2, My face looks clean and fresh and I don’t have to worry bout anything. Great article!
